For years DMAT (The Direct Marketing Association of Toronto) has been
known as the direct marketing networking association. That served the
industry, our members and our sponsors very well. But, not any more. As
times change and our industry changes so must we.
That was then ... this is now.
The idea of change is hard for all of us to accept. Especially when
something has been in place for a long time. In the case of DMAT, we
are talking almost 50 years. But change we must. The time is right. The
nature of our business demands it.
In the last number of years we have witnessed a great deal of shift in
our market place and in our industry. DMAT has decided to comply and
shift course as well ... starting now.
From this point on DMAT will be restructured to become much more to the industry.
Some of our new initiatives
DMAT is no longer a paid membership association
- expand our scope
DMAT is expanding to include a national presence with DMAC
- expand our reach
DMAT is taking the lead in being an on-line connector and resource
- DMAT as the “Go-To” site for Direct Marketing
Let me elaborate on each of these:
Industry Directory - Connections and Links ... not Membership
We have determined that as a volunteer organization we want to see more
connections to business rather than running a closed-loop membership
association. We are expanding our site listings - no longer a
membership per se, but a directory of the industry at large. DMAT is
the place to look for connections. You can be listed for free. http://www.dmat.ca/listings/
National Scope with a Local Focus
DMAT is launching The Direct Marketing Association of Canada. This new
site will be the National Brand for the Canadian DM industry. We will
be using this as the primary hub with sub sites serving major centers
across Canada. To start we have DMAT in Toronto and vicinity and are
planning on developing sites for:
Vancouver
Calgary
Winnipeg
Ottawa
Montreal
Halifax
During the next few months these local directories will be launched and
populated with listings. By you. Go and see if you are already there,
make sure your info is correct and if not listed.
DMAT/DMAC the on-line connectors
We have been working diligently in the last few years building the DMAT
site into a vital, relevant and well-used internet site. Our traffic
has been steadily building and our search engine rankings are among the
best in the business. We plan to expand on this even more.
We have written an aggressive online strategy to serve the industry.
Not to compete with any other associations, nor our industry media, but
to enhance it and support all of these fine organizations. We want to
get Direct Marketing front and centre. We have already invested in
several technologies and have tested them - they work. Full stop. It is
time to roll out the plan.
We have used the tag line "All about Direct Marketing since 1962!" with
great success. We believe our new positioning will be even more
powerful, relevant and geared to 2010 and beyond.
DMAC & DMAT - We mean business.
Get listed! Get found! Get connected!
In essence, DMAT and DMAC ... All about Direct Marketing from 2010 forward!
We are all about business. The business of Direct Marketing! And every
single initiative we will embark on will be true to that positioning.
Our new sites will focus on job postings, industry listings of
companies and people, industry events, news and company profiles and
highlights. We offer a free listing to anyone in the DM industry and
will be offering a premium service to get listed out front on the Local
Directories.
We have, for years, used the Internet very effectively and have been
using the Social Web as well. We have Face Book (Events and Groups), a
Twitter account, Plaxo and Linked-in, a Blog and RSS feeds. These will
be continued and enhanced. And as new technologies come into play we
will add them if they fit our strategies.
We are looking at some new products to launch this year in addition to
the ones listed above and will announce these as they are developed.
Our feedback systems have been in place for years and we welcome you input as always. Talk to us!
We show up very high on Google (In the Top 3!) and you can take
advantage of that by promoting your company on DMAT - for more information on DMAT sponsorships and advertising click here.
